about

This acoustic guitar version of the synth ballad is for a scene in the upcoming sequel to "The Thirteenth Hour" and its accompanying soundtrack (both unnamed so far). I always thought it was interesting how musicians take of their songs and modify it to fit acoustic instruments, so here, I've tried to strip the song down to its bare essentials to give it the feel of something you might play to lull a child to sleep or in front of a campfire.

The song references two heroes from "The Thirteenth Hour" who have been separated not only each other but from the home they have created together due to a variety of circumstances beyond their control. Aurora, the naturally more musical of the couple, starts writing this song as a way of channeling her sadness and frustration. She only gets about halfway through when she gets stuck on the chorus.

Eventually, Logan is able to find her partially completed lyrics and finishes the song. He figures out where she is (in a castle at the center of a far-away city), and standing on a hill high above the rooftops, plays the song for her, Lloyd Dobbler-style, so she can hear and know that he is alive, well, and hopeful for the future.

In the art that accompanies this track. Logan is practicing the song on a reed pipe as he looks out over the city, hopeful that Aurora might hear him from one of the castle windows.

lyrics

There's a Wild Heart Beating

F G
When I close my eyes
F
I think I can hear
Am
The reed pipes that echo
G
Into the dark
F G
Those nights under the stars
F
Up on our hill
Am
And those memories that linger
G
Where we built home

Am G
I miss your arms around me
C F
In that safe place that we knew
C F
In that place that we grew
G
I miss that place. I miss you. And …

Am G
I miss your arms around me
C F
In that safe place that we knew
C F
In that place that we grew
G
I loved that place, and I love you

Am G
Sometimes when you go looking
C
For what you need to
F
find
C F
Sometimes when you go looking
Am
You find it was right there the
G
whole time

C
There's a wild heart beating in
F
that space where we lived
C
I can hear it in my ears
G
Though I'm not there and
F
you've gone away
G C
But we'll make it back there someday
F
Yes, we'll make it back there
C
someday
