The self-titled track from "The Thirteenth Hour" novella, "Empty Hands" is essentially a minimalist, stripped down version of "The Thirteenth Hour" theme with the same descending chord progression as the song "There's a Wild Heart Beating" to tie tracks accompanying different Thirteenth Hour books together thematically. I was influenced by two atmospheric keyboard instrumental pieces from movies for this track - "A Private Showing" by Steven Hague and John Musser (from "Some Kind of Wonderful") and "Tommib" by Squarepusher (from "Lost in Translation").
