I always meant to add some kind of battle theme or fighting music to the Thirteenth Hour music tracks since there are those times in the book that would demand that kind of accompaniment, but I never got around to it. However, that changed when I started doing mini Dungeons and Dragons style campaigns set in the world of The Thirteenth Hour for my Patreon supporters. Having music for the different parts of the gameplay now had more urgency - hence this track, the ideas of which had been kicking around for a few years.

I was influenced by the distinctive drum beat of the 1984 Terminator theme by Brad Feidel as well as imagery of the Armorer character at her forge from the TV show, The Mandalorian, for the metal on metal percussive parts of the track (done by hitting a tuning fork on a metal dumbbell).
