When a sibling of one of my friends got engaged, I said I’d make a music track for them to commemorate the occasion. And then … well, fast forward a few years. Life got in the way and other excuses, but I came to my senses and realized the other day it was still not done! So in the interest of finishing what I started and keeping promises, I decided to finish it. I began working on it with the app Auxy so had a bit of framework then built on what I had, fleshing it out into a full track. I wanted it to increase in intensity (just like a new partnership) with a number of layers in the background - not only because it's an 80s throwback but because that's what a solid relationship is - layer upon layer of complexity that meshes together to somehow work as a unified whole.

As with most things, I also intended this track to relate back to The Thirteenth Hour books I write. One day, I may use this and other chiptune tracks like it for a little 8 bit-style Thirteenth Hour game. The repetitive retro nature of the tracks reminds of something that would be playing in the background a game like Space Harrier or others of that era. The title and coverart come from the end of The Thirteenth Hour - there's a scene at the end of the book where the two main characters are getting married on a cliff at the edge of the water, not unlike how the couple that inspired the track got engaged.
